Citizenship Office Publishes First Statistical Release

The Citizenship Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published its first statistical release. The release covers the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, during which member organisations transferred their citizenship functions to the Office, and records the position at establishment on 6 September 2026.
At establishment the Register of Citizens contained 8,740 entries. During the transition period 2,486 applications were received and 1,932 were determined, of which 1,704 were approved, 148 were refused and 80 were withdrawn by the applicant. The median time from receipt to decision was 31 days.
Of the applications determined, 1,140 were made on the ground of residence, 512 on the ground of service with a member organisation, 194 on the ground of descent, 61 on the ground of adoption and 25 by grant. Figures for the transition period are provisional and will be revised in later releases where late returns are received.
The Office will publish statistics quarterly. The next release, covering the quarter ending 31 December 2026, will be published in January 2027. The full release, including applications by route and the outcome of reviews, is set out on the Statistics page of this site.
